Class tasks

Editing to the music

This class task we to understand different ways of editing music videos. In this case we were learning to edit with the music, this is done by the beet of the song. For example, you would edit along with the claps in the song. To start of this task, we downloaded two different files, footage of woman driving and music. The task was to edit one minutes worth of footage to go along with the music. Before starting the edit we were reminded how to use markers within Adobe Premier Pro. To create a marker, you must have the timeline selected or the video footage selected, by pressing M with one of those selected it will create a green marker above the footage or timeline. If you wish to change the colour you can select the marker, right click and there will be an option to change the colour. For this task, the music we were given was upbeat and fast which made it fun to edit. The main idea was to edit along with the claps in the song as that would go along well this a cut to a different shot. In this example there would be footage of the woman getting ready to drive, then when the music would pick up, we would use the markers we had previously place to make cuts. These cuts would include the woman putting the car into drive, driving, the reflection of the rear-view mirror, low angel shots of the woman driving and many more. While putting the footage together I enjoyed editing along with the music. However, I did not enjoy creating the start as the music starts to pick up very quickly but often the intro was complete the rest was not too hard to complete, as I would wait for every could of claps to make a cut to a different shot.

This task was to make cuts with multiple cameras. The main footage we were given was two guys performing a song. To start this task, we were given the footage and had to synchronise it within Adobe Premier Pro. To synchronise you have to select both the video and audio you want to synchronise, right click select sync than select audio in the drop-down menu than select ok. By doing this it will move the video footage to match up with the audio file. Once this is done, we had to finish off the edit. To finish off my edit I made it so when the instrumental was playing, I had the wider angle that had both members in the shot. When one of the members where playing I had the footage focus on that specific person. I enjoyed this task because it was a good refresher on some of the basic ways to edit. However, I did not enjoy how there was very limited footage. For example, there was no angles of the people guitars as they are playing them. Overall, I did enjoy it over the task as it was a good to refresh my mind on some of the basic ways to edit.

Colour Isolate. This class task we another refresher on some basic affects you can use within Premier Pro. The main effect used in this class task was called leave colour. This effect allows you to focus on one colour. For example, my edit had a flower that is very brightly coloured. With the effect you use the eye dropped tool to select the specific colour you want to focus on within that shot. Before learning how to use this tool we were given a tutorial to watch by are tutor that expanded how to use the effect. We were given the chose to choose the same footage as are tutor or chose something else, to find a different clip I used Pexils a website that has free short clips and photos. After we were shown how to use the effect and had been short clip, we were left to our own devises and had to play round with the percentages of the effect to find something we like for are specific clip. Overall, I am happy with the end result as it introduced me to something new that is very easy to understand and use.

Colour Hype. This class task was related to colour Isolate but we used different effects. To start this class task, we found a piece of footage or used the same footage as are tutor. When we added the footage to Premier Pro, we opened the effects and effects control windows. This is done by going up to widow along the top task bar then selecting the effects and effects control window, while the drop-down menu for window is down. This will make a change to your Premier Pro by making both windows appear. Within effects search for solarisation, this is the effect that we used for this class task. Hold left click and drag the effect onto the footage within the timeline. When the effect is on you can now make changes to the footage by changing the percentages within the effect. To get the final product I got I played round with the percentages until I found something I thought was interesting for the piece of footage. Overall, I enjoyed this class task as it introduced me to a new effect the I have never used with Adobe Premier Pro.

Glow dancer. With this class task the class was introduced to a glow effect. This glow effect was achieved within Adobe After Effects. To start off we were given footage of a person dancing. The first step to this task was to selecting the brush tool and then draw a small line down the dancer's leg, then we skipped one frame by pressing command/control the using the left and right arrow keys (the left will go back one frame, the right will go forward one frame). After going all the way round the dancer's body, we would select the brush tool and change it to neon effect. Once we had that we would go back to the first frame we started then go over all the same lines again. Once we added the neon effect to the other lines, we played the animation to let it render than we played the animation to see the final result. After this we would render that footage and put it on YouTube and add it on to are reflective blog. Overall, I enjoyed this task as it showed me something new that I have never done before.

style titling lyric video FX. To start of this class task we were introduced to a new way to create a lyric music video.

Technical effects in music videos

I chose this music video because I like the flash back effect that it has within the video. This effect would be added within the editing stage, their are many effects that are similar. For example, in Adobe Premiere Pro the effect that I will be using is echo. This effect add a cool trippy effect on people within the shot

Puppet pin

For this class task we learnt about some basic ways to animate within Adobe After Effects. To start off this class task we downloaded a background, a picture of an alien and a UFO. All of these images were downloaded of ALO (Activate Learning Online). To get the animation started we added the background and then made the background a little bit smaller to fit the frame. After doing this we would then add the alien. When complete we were introduced to the in tool. Along the top there is your tool bar at the end of this tool bar there is the pin tool. Left click to select the tool but hold left click to change the tool to a different pin tool. To start off the animation we selected the puppet position pin tool. Then after selecting this, we would make points in the alien's hand or any other part of the body. With these created points we can then move those specific parts of the body with that pin.
